What is a Merchant Locked Card?

A Merchant Locked Card is a LocalCard Visa card set up to only work at specific types of merchants or merchant rules.

How it works

When issued, the card is configured to restrict spending to a particular merchants. For example, a card locked to dining will only be accepted at restaurants and cafes.

What counts as a merchant category?

  • 🎬 Entertainment

  • ✈️ Travel

πŸ’‘ Tip: Merchant categories are set by the merchant themselves and we have no control over this. If you try to use your card at the wrong type of merchant then we will send you an email to inform you.

⚠️ Heads up: If your card is declined somewhere you expected it to work, the merchant may sit in a different category. Reach out to our support team and we'll take a look.
